"That Blessed Hope" was written in 1997, and it was in the plans to be published the next year by Bethany House. But, as it went before the editoral board making the final choices for the coming year, it was decided that it didn't fit the program for that year. It was put on the shelf for later reconsideration. Unfortunately, by then I'd gotten very much involved with "Hey Mom, What About Dinosaurs" and didn't get back to it. I've always felt, however, it is an important study that really should get out. That's why I've decided to make it available here.
What you will get is the prepublication manuscript. It's pretty well finished and formatted, but never went through the final copy-editor process. So, while it looks like a book, reads like a book, and works like a book, it isn't as polished, or printed, like a book. You'll surely find a few typos, maybe some unfinished phrases, and I will probably find a differentl way of saying some things when it does go into print. But you may have the immediate benefit of the research and revelation without any more waiting.
"That blessed Hope" is a very thorough study of that subject known as the "Rapture". It is different from anything else you have read on the subject before. It is different in several ways.
First, it looks at the entire Bible for evidence and clues, not just the New Testament as do most modern studies. Doing so, it finds a host of scriptures that few, if any, authors have noticed before. Second, it is Scripture driven, not agenda driven. It flows with the order of Scripture; it merely presents and interprets what appear to be relevent scriptures, without trying to argue you into believing one way or another. In fact, in a final rewrite I intend to be a little more forceful and finish up with a clear statement of my own opinion/conclusions - which, I think, will come as something of a shock and rude awakening to many Christians who have been assuming that they have a free ticket to ride, just by virtue of being "Christian". Third, after discovering numerous new scriptures that have something to tell us about the subject, it brings to your attention one last Revelation scripture no one seems to have paid any attention to, but which seems to answer quite directly (and conclusively, I think) the oft-debated question of "Pre, Mid, or Post-Tribulation" timing. Finally, it gives us a clear idea of why there will be a "Rapture" (remember, the this "Rapture" is a rather new idea/revelation) and just who will actually qualify for that "Blessed Hope"!
